How to Get There

  • From Yangon, take the Mawlamyine-Yangon Expressway and exit at the 39-mile mark. The camp is just off the main road.
  • From Mawlamyine, look for the "Winga Baw Elephant Camp" signboard on the right-hand side of the road.

History of Winga Baw Elephant Camp

Winga Baw Elephant Camp was established in November 2016 by the Department of Forestry under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation. It was originally a logging station before being transformed into an eco-tourism site when the government suspended timber extraction for 10 years. Initially, the camp was designed as a sanctuary for orphaned and retired elephants but later opened to visitors.
